Josie and the Band Contest

Why do I have to be at school on a Saturday?  Well, we have a contest in band to go to.  It's yet ANOTHER Pre-UIL, which really confused Mom.  This one was optional for the school to do, but yet Mrs. Behne wanted to do it.  So I have to get into a my black dress yet again.

Later, I am going to see Kasiah perform some songs I know at MSO.  They're performing Broadway for Kids.  Only, it's not really kid stuff.  At the last concert (which was Gershwin Broadway), I didn't know any of the songs.  But now they're doing Annie, Grease, Fame, and best of all, WICKED!  I know!  When I was ten, I got to see it on Broadway with Kerry Ellis.  We entered a contest that Wicked would have every day where you would put your name in a hat and how much tickets you want, and they would draw names until they filled up the entire front row!  The people who were drawn got to see the show for $26 dollars a piece!  Well, you guessed it.  We got in!  I was so happy!  Kerry Ellis was a little nasal, but that's because she was British, and British people think we sound nasal.  But she's good when she sings with a British accent!  The only problem with sitting in the front row was that you have to look directly up to see the mechanical dragon above you and you have to turn around to see the flying monkey acrobats.  But besides that, it was AH-MAY-ZING!

Now, I'm sitting here with Ukey and probably going to record myself singing and put the video on here.  If I have time.  Well, TTYL!

Josie and Yet ANOTHER Disappointment

I had early release today because I had an ortho appointment.  This time, the bracket on my right I-tooth fell, or canine tooth, or whatever you call it.  But they were meaning to take it off anyway, so the orthodontist lady said it wouldn't go on my record.  Either she needs to update my records, or she's a LIAR!  Doesn't she know how bad I want these braces OFF?!?!  I mean, Christine (teenie989 on YouTube) got hers on a year after me and got them off a few months ago.  Then again, all she needed was gapping.  But still.  I am so upset!

Josie and the Hidden Truth

I have recently read The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux.  As it turns out, Christine, Erik, Raoul, and Philippe, were all real people.  The story actually happened.  What everyone thought was that the Opera Ghost died down in his cell, Christine was never found, and Raoul had killed his older brother out of envy, jealousy, and madness.  Well, M. Leroux found out the truth, how their stories were entertwined and proposed the story to the police.  They laughed at him.  So, he wrote a book.  Philippe was really killed by Erik, and he almost killed Raoul, until Christine stopped him (yes, he did kidnap her), but Christine and Raoul were never found because they ran away to Scandanavia.  Erik, however, escaped (he didn't die), but his friend's friends found a body washed up on the bank of a river that they identified as Erik's.  He was partially pecked at by birds, however, but everyone dies, but overall, it ended happily ever after.  That was a great story.

Josie and the Recap

Since the computer still isn't fixed, I'll give a little summary of what I remember.

BTW, I've decided to stop The Hunger Games Trivia, seeing I probably can't post all the questions before I forget them.

The computer still isn't fixed.  So we took it to Sharing Life to get it fixed.  If they can't, we get a new one, and I have to start all over on my book.  100 pages.  This will be the fourth time.  WHY?!?!

We had transition night at my high school.  It was fun.  So far, I'm going to try to be in choir, band, the thespian club, the swim team, the anime club, French, debate (not that likely), chess, and that's all.

We had a viewing party for the Collide concert, and I realized I was better than I thought.  I mean, I hate bragging, but I thought I sucked!  I rocked!

We just had our tests for math and reading.  I finished 30 minutes before time was up on the math test, but for english, I finished an hour before lunch.  Sweeeeet.  Now we have to get ready for the science and history tests.  Which are apparently more harder.  And band UIL.  And choir UIL.  Theatre is the only place where I can relax, now!

I spilt my drink on my shirt.  This is what I get when I bring fruit punch to school while wearing a white polo.

We're going to be reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in English and I'm really excited.  I love Mark Twain.  To me, Tom Sawyer is like the 1840's version of Calvin and Hobbes, only, Huckleberry Finn is Hobbes.

Pre UIL for choir was pretty good, but we definitely didn't do our best.  The only alto we could really hear was Leah.  And a lot of times it was the same with the sopranos 1s, with me being too loud.

Anyone else out there?  Besides Miki?  Why don't you comment or follow!

Miki, I'm super excited about the One Direction thing.  The only concert I've ever been to was a Selena Gomez concert.  We saw Christina Grimmie and got halfway through the All-Star Weekend thing when it got rained out.  Hope that doesn't happen to you!

I'm almost done with The Help.  It's taken me a week to read it.  Next, I'm going to read Treasure Island, and then possibly Eragon.  It looks interesting.

If you guys want to see me write (look at the title up top), go to my other blog, Josie's Short Stories.  It's good!

Well, BAI!

By the way, you guys should look at this video.  It's pretty cool music!  It's from Love Never Dies, that super sad musical I told you guys about.:

Josie, Books, and Movies

Sorry, I wasn't able to get on the computer over spring break, so here's a recap:

I helped Mom teach at a drama camp in Plano.  There were only 14 children there compared to their usual 30, so we got a 14-person play for them to put on entitled The Princess and the Cheese by Carol Rice.  It's about a girl named Princess Caroline who finds her palace infested with mice who desire her precious cheese.  So, the queen sent out a proclamation that whoever can rid the palace of the mice can have her daughter's hand in marriage, and she doesn't necessarily want to get rid of them at all.

It was brilliant!  We had hilarious actors, cute little kids, and the best times, and after it all, the teachers get paid $800.  Mom wanted to give me $80, but she would only be left with $720, but she was given an extra $80!  It was godsent!  So, now I have $90 bucks in my bank.  And I am truly saving up for the amazing iPad, because I can get books and movies like The Help, Love Never Dies, and many more on there.

Saturday, we went to the airport to pick up Jared, and he was super excited to come down to Texas.  I missed him so much.

Today was the end of spring break and the beginning of school, not to mention The Hunger Games Trivia.  I'll post the question at the end of every post, and the first person to answer it correctly, I follow one of your blogs!  If I've followed all your blogs OR if you answered all five questions, I shall create a blog that you and I can both post on.

Kasiah got her braces off!  ENVIOUS!!!

Well, I don't think there's anything else to talk about!  BYEE!!!

Josie and the Virus

I'm at Grandma's.  Why?  Our computer crashed.  It's on, but the screen says that the computer has shut itself done to prevent any further damage to be done.  It says how to fix it, but even I'm not that fluent in geek.  Dork, yes, but I only know a little bit in geek.

Geek language is all about electronics.  I know what a USB drive is, an extension cord, SD card, hard drive, DVD-rom, CD, floppy disk, flash drive, toolbar, what most of the F1-F12 buttons do, the two reasons for tab, and how to work the computer without ever touching the mouse.  But this was just confusing.

Dork language is all about being awkward and slightly embarrassing.  I am fluent in this language.  A lot of it is on the post "What I Am Saying."  But I know the embarrassment of being posted on YouTube without your knowing of it, and the horrors of having people talk about you behind your back.

Nerd is not electronics, it is education.  Especially math and science.  I know a*a+b*b=c*c, and all formulas for finding lateral and total surface area, perimiter, area, volume, interest, and the difference between the x axis and the y axis, but Geek is where I'm weak.  I mean, it's all Geek to me.  Or, as they say it in Greek,

It's all Geek to me!

* means multiply.

Josie and Kony 2012

I just found out about Kony 2012 today.  I saw this picture on my Abby's iPad.  Abby's a girl in my choir and band class.

I asked her what it was, and she explained it to me and the choir teacher, Mrs. Carrasco.  I didn't really understand it the way they put it, but now I remember learning about the Invisible Children and getting bracelets to support them.  I'm now watching the video.

Joseph Kony is a man in Uganda who kidnaps children in their sleep and puts them into the Lord's Resistance Army.  That's exactly the opposite.  He forces the girls into sex slavery and the boys into his army.  They have to mutilate/inflict serious damage on people's faces (makes me wonder if that happened to the Phantom of the Opera) and kill their own parents.  And none of them want to.  Obama isn't doing a thing about it.  I mean, the guy's from Kenya.  Yes.  I do believe he is.  There are pictures.  But enough about politics.

I think that people should set aside our political/religious differences and agree that we need to arrest Kony.  Here's what you can do:
  • Send Obama a letter saying he needs to stop being a coward and get our troops down there.
  • Send your government official a letter telling them to help.  Yes.  I am putting our postmen to work with this.
  • Pass it on.
  • Watch the following video.
  • Show everyone and their cousin's the video.
  • Support.
Please.  I don't want another child to be forced into the tyrannic mess by this man.  Please.  Stop Kony.

Josie and the Trivia

This is for anyone who enjoys reading my blog.  Post these list of questions on your blog!

Q: What is your nickname?
A: I have several.  My brother calls me Jojo, Skinnibones, some people at a camp in Virginia would call me Lucky or Lucky Day, and people at school call me Flapjack.

Q: If you could pick your own name, what would it be?
A: Hmm... that's a tough one.  Probably Christine.  It's so pretty.

Q: What's your favorite expression?
A: When life gives you lemons, make apple juice, then sit back, drink it, and watch the world wonder how you did it.  Or if you don't want them in the first place, thow 'em back.

Q: What's your favorite thing about yourself?
A: My voice, my writing abilities, and my random style.

Q: What are you the most proud of on the list of things above?
A: Everything.

Q: Will you draw a self portriat?
A: Later.  When it comes out, I'll have a page for it.

Q: Who is your B.F.F.?
A: I don't care if they say you can only have one.  Mine are Meghan, Cheyenne, and Kasiah.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do with friends?
A: Play music or Rock Band.  Or just chill.

Q: Who have you been friends with the longest?
A: Meghan.  Oh, my gosh!  We go way back!

Q: Where did you meet?
A: Mrs. Shaw's first grade class.  Well, really, in the girl's restroom.

Q: How many years have you been friends?
A: Almost eight years, now!

Q: Who is your newest friend?
A: Probably Bree.  I met her at Rockwall's Got Talent.

Q: Has a friend ever let you down?
A: I don't want to list names, but there was this one girl that showed everyone my diary at school.  It was full of mermaid stuff for a book I was writing and everyone thought I was absolutely nuts.  Now, she's one of my friends, and we have every class together.

Q: Do you believe in love at first sight?
A: Let me put it this way: If it were real, I would have had a boyfriend by now.

Q: Do you have a secret crush?
A: I don't think so....

Q: Where will you be in 5 years?
A: College

Q: What will you be doing?
A: Getting a degree in some sort of music.

Q: How about 20 years?
A: I will be married with adopted kids, living in either New York, LA, or Miami Beach.  I will have a lot of birds and a few dogs.  I will get lots of money from my music and books, and I will be teaching music.

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: Pshycologist, you know, Lie To Me stuff, or a composer.

Q: How many kids do you hope to have?
A: I don't want to have kids, but I want to adopt three.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: Well, I want to go to the Carribeans, New Zealand, France, Australia, Japan, China, Russia, Germany, England, Quebec, and Argentina, just to name a few.

Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
A: Probably Miami Beach, Florida.  Or LA.  But I prefer warm water beaches to cold ones.

Q: How would you rank Health, Wealth, and Happiness in order of importance?
A: Happiness first, because if you're healthy, wealthy, and miserable, then you're a huge wreck,  health second, because I'm poor and I'm healthy and happy, and wealth last, because, true, it would be better to not worry about how you're going to pay the bills.

Q: What is your favorite store?
A: I have several!  Hot Topic, Rue 21, Forever 21, Claire's, Justice (I use their dresses as shirts and they work fine!), Sephora, any book store that's non-smoking and has good, new books, and farmers' markets.

Q: When you want to do some serious shopping, do you cruise the mall or cruise the net?
A: Mall, so that way I can get some excersize and not be stuck inside all day.  But if it's something I'm probably not going to find anywhere, I cruise the net.

Q: How many pairs of shoes do you own?
A: Well, let me check! *goes to find shoes* Twelve, including the rollerblades.

Q: If you had to wear only one kind of shoe for the rest of your life, what would you pick?  Flip-flops, sneakers, or high heels?
A: Sneakers, because the other two can't hold my inserts.  Flip-flops would give me blisters in between my toes and hurt during a long walk, and I suck at high heels.

Q: Sketch your dream outfit?
A: No.

Q: America's Next Top Model or Project Runway?
A: Project Runway, all the way!

Q: Favorite fashion trend?
A: Plaid skirts are cute, leather boots rock, and funny graphic tees are awesome!

Q: Sweatshirt or sweater?
A: Sweater.  Althoug, I think that sweat-er isn't a very good name for it.

Q: Jeans or skirt?
A: I feel so uncomfortable in a skirt!  Jeans, definitely!

Q: How do you usually wear your hair?
A: Usually I just brush it out, find my part, fix my bangs, and leave it alone.

Q: What's in your locker?  Or if you don't have a locker, what's in your backpack?
A: Well, I recently cleaned it out, so there was a pair of socks and an empty bookbag, but now there's the pair of socks and a cow-patterned hat.  Oh, shoot!  I forgot I was supposed to get the hat out before I left school!  Now it's spring break!  Crap!

Q: What's your favorite scary movie?
A: The Woman in Black was fricking creepy!

Q: Funny movie?
A: Arthur.  Best guy ever, even though he's a serious drunk.  "Sometimes I just think funny things!"

Q: Romantic movie?
A: Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies.  My mom and I have the hugest disagreement.  She was Team Raoul, and I was Team Erik/Phantom.  I don't know why.  The Phantom's just awesome.

Q: Best movie ever?
A: When Wicked turns into a movie, it will be that.  But for now, Spiderwick.

Q: Best movie based on a book?
A: The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, Temple Grandin, Bridge to Terabithia, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Spiderwick, Wicked, Hunger Games.

Q: Did you like the book or the movie better?
A: Haven't read the book, haven't read the book, haven't read the books, movie, movie, haven't read all of the books, haven't read the book but based on what people say I say the musical, haven't seen the movie yet.

Q: If they made a movie of your life, who would play you?
A: Sierra McCormick, Abigail Breslin, or Peyton List.  But most likely Abigail.  She is me.  I've loved her since I was six.  As a fan.

Q: Best song of the year?
A: Stronger.  Even though it came out last year, I didn't know until recently.  So, that.

Q: Best song of all time?
A: Suddenly I See by KT Dunstall and/or Beauty Underneath by Ben Lewis and Jack Lyall.

Q: What was your favorite book when you were a kid?
A: Where Did Josie Go?  It was the only book I had ever found with my name in it.

Q: What is currently your favorite book series?
A: The Memories by MEEEE!  I'm just kidding.  The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Q: Design a new cover for your favorite book!
A: How 'bout this: I'll design a cover for my book and put it on my drawings page!

Q: What is your favorite school lunch?
A: Spicy chicken sandwich, hot Cheetos, a slushie that isn't cherry-flavored, and Jell-O.  Ooo!  And a cookie!

Q: Grossest school lunch?
A: Spinach wrap, cooked spinach, fried green beans, vanilla milk, and packaged apple slices.

Q: Do you like food fights?
A: I avoid them at all costs.

Q: Chocolate or vanilla?
A: Depends on my mood.

Q: Gummy bears or M&M's?
A: Gummy bears!

Q: Plain pizza or pepperoni?
A: Plain rocks, so I'm going to have to say pepperoni. *pause* Did I confuse you?  I'm kidding.  I love pepperoni.

Q: Mexican or Italian?
A: Both!  As it turns out, I love foreign foods more than American.

Q: Sweet or sour?
A: Again, depends on my mood, but I despise sweet&sour sauce.

Q: Who is your most popular teacher this year?
A: Mrs. Behne, the band director, definitely.  Everybody knows and loves her.  Or Mrs. Page, the theatre teacher.  It's the same with her.

Q: Teacher who gives the most homework?
A: It's a tie between Mr. Kilgore, history, and Mrs. Flores, math.

Q: Coolest teacher?
A: Mrs. Behne, Mrs. Page, and Ms. Carrasco, choir.

Q: Class clown?
A: Samuel is the biggest class clown, well, actually the smallest, yet funniest guy I have ever met!

Q: Braniac?
A: Cheyenne.  She's never gotten less than an A in middle school.  Elementary's a different thing.

Q: Most musical?
A: Kasiah!  She's first chair viola, now recently promoted to first chair second clarinet, AND she plays viola for MSO!

Q: LAST QUESTION!  Who is the future star at you school?
A: Well, to tell you the truth, MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Pass it on!

Josie and the Super-Sad Sequel

Okay, I have an obsession over musicals.  I think I've said that before.  Alrighty, then.

I decided to use my money to go see Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies, a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera and was filmed in Melbourne by NCM Fathom and shown only twice: Febuary 28 and March 7.  I brought all my money just in case the tickets were more than the usual $10.  They were $18.  Each.  I didn't even have enough money to cover both Mom and I, which was my original plan.  So, she decided to let me go by myself.

I got my popcorn and drink and was about to get extra butter, when Mom walked up.  She didn't want me coming out of the movies at 10 at night.  Figures.

When the movie started, there was 30 minutes of introduction: interviews, behind the scenes stuff, the usual.  When the music finally started, it was kind of weird.  There was this one chick who was really short who played one of the people who performed at Coney Island.  Yes.  Coney Isle.

It turned out Meg was not a ballet dancer anymore, but instead a strip tease.  Her career went downhill, huh?

Raoul was portrayed as a bad character.  Instead of that charming vicomte everyone once knew, he was a drunk who had gambled all their money, and the only way to get some money for their family of three is for Christine to sing at Coney Island, which turns out to be set up by the Phantom, but the actor is about as old as her (Thank GOODNESS!), and a bit more darker.

It was good, but really sad.  I didn't see a single person who wasn't crying at the end.  I don't want to spoil the surprise, because, believe it or not, they put ot out on DVD.  So, if you're planning on buying it, beware.

I have to go to school now!  BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Josie and the Love Birds

I should have put the birds in Jared's room or something.  They insist on going to bed at 10 and waking up near 7.  To put them to sleep, you put a cover over them.  I only got 6 hours of sleep!  I couldn't sleep for a while last night!  They're like babies.  You never know what the heck they want.  When I get older, I am making sure I don't have to wake up freakishly early, so my birds will sleep in when I want to.

My eyes are tired.

Josie and the Speed

As you can see, this is not a very positive post.

I got to Collide at 6 Central Time Zone today, and it was fun at first.  Rekonciled actually came and rapped live with the hip hop dancers before we started!  Oh my gosh!

Just so you don't get confused, Dad is a cute little teddy bear that I bring with me.  My dad gave it too me on Valentine's Day a few years ago, and since he can't (and sometimes doesn't even bother to) come, I have that instead.  He's so cute!  But, just so you don't get confused, when I'm talking about Dad, I mean the bear.  Unless I say otherwise.

We started out with All About Love, which was cool.  Then a quick video came on, and I had to go into a hyper-mode to change.  It turned out my original hippie shirt was inappropriate (Gee, Mom.  You didn't notice the woman in the bikini on both sides of the shirt?), so I just wore my red shirt.  I threw on my beanie and pink shoes and changed into jeans, and then when I came on, Heath was late.  He didn't come on until around "And I got flowers in the spring," so I just sang his part until he came.  If he would just wear the wig we got him, he would be a true Sonny.

After that, I was in SUPER HYPER-MODE!!!!!  I had to:
  1. Get offstage
  2. Go to the restroom to change
  3. Get into my blue dress and black shoes
  4. Run across our supersized church to get to my spot for Love Story (we come around the back)
  5. Sit for two minutes under a blazing spotlight and sing
  6. Get up and do a little dance
  7. Get offstage.
Yeah  Continuing!

I had six minutes after that to get into my red shirt and jeans.  I just ditched the shoes.  I figured it was for the best.  It went okay the first time, though it was too slow and I couldn't hear the beatbox, so I just listened to the bass, hoping they could hear them.  Second time, we got so far off, I thought Adam was just going to have us stop.

I had a while until the Everything skit (shown below)

Yeah, so that went well.  I couldn't get a beer bottle, so Lindsey said I could use her water bottle.  I took the label off and used it.  It worked fine.  Brittany wasn't there, so I was a lone drunk.  Hehehehehe.  When the part came where all the people attack the girl (Mary), I grabbed her shirt, and it ripped apart in my hand!  I almost freaked out!  Turns out, that's what was supposed to happen.

Love Train was good, but Ashlynn didn't come on stage.  She got scared.  Let's hope she comes on at the concert!

Adam said we were going to do it again, only without dressing.  So we stayed and extra hour.  I sware, I was about to die of exhaustion!  So, if I end up fainting and not waking up, Mom better sue Adam.

My birds are chirping.  Better go put them to sleep.

Josie and the Stupid Mouthpiece

My French Horn mouthpiece keeps on knocking off one of my lower brackets.  It's not like I'm doing it on purpose!  But I can't get the braces off until "I stop breaking them"!  Oh.  My.  Gosh.  I am playing the French Horn every single fricking day!  Am I going to die with these on?!
